Patients and their relatives looking for therapy like DBT therapy etc. should avoid therapist USHNAA GHATAK, who practises at Carring Minds (Sarat Bose Road, opposite Paddapukur swimming pool) and Jodhpur Park. I am not sure about the quality of different therapy she provides to others, but her approach to DBT therapy is entirely wrong. I am myself a witness to this. She was treating my adult daughter since May25, who is a pwBPD. I was suddenly called for a joint session with my daughter last month (Oct25) at her Jodhpur Park chamber, at a time when I was extremely busy and bogged down with my mother’s hip fracture (who was in hospital and ultimately passed away on 4Nov25). No information regarding the agenda or topic of discussion was given to me. Usually, in such sessions when the patient happens to be hyper and distressed about a particular topic involving one parent, that parent should be prior-informed so that the session goes smoothly as this is not a ‘peer group therapy’ or a school's PARENT -TEACHER MEETING. But I think she has blurred the line here. She started off by saying - it is all about perception but could not make my daughter see that her perception was wrong about a comment i made to her regarding her treatment and could have asked her to focuss more on DISTRESS TOLERANCE, one of the pillars of DBT, and could have easily avoided this session when I repeatedly kept telling her that it is not the right time. But she insisted on continuing with it as if it was her PERSONAL VENDETTA. She takes things personally which I have noticed. I have been studying regarding BPD for last 4 years to understand how pwBPDs function and behave like, RAGING, SPLITTING their loved ones, DEVALUATION, DISCARDING their FPs (favorite persons), MINDFULNESS, OBJECT INCONSISTENCIES, INTERPERSONAL SKILL, EMOTIONAL DYSREGULATION etc. Some of the key highlights of the joint session - I was asked insulting Qs by the therapist Ushnaa Ghatak like :– are you worried about your daughter’s marriage? which is such a stupid Q to ask a parent whose adult child has BPD. I have never come across any article by any psychological professional, (in my 4 years of study), treating pwBPDs who advocate marriage for them unless they have been in targeted therapy long enough to learn healthy cognitive coping mechanisms. Marriage can and will be suicidal for a pwBPD leading to divorce who is not fully cured and this is a proven fact, once the idealisation, love-bombing phase is over. Statement about my BPD daughter – she is a free spirit?? made me wonder what she is trying to say! She is a diagnosed BPD patient and under medication for last 4 years and everything is known to Ushnaa! Personal sniding remaks like – if you trust my methods BLINDLY, take a stroll (to my daughter),he can control his anger and insecurity (to me, as if to instigate me). And then herself admitting that she has messed up the joint session with her statement – ‘shob khichudi hoyegiyeche, there is dal and rice and they came together’(everything has become a mess). All this led to my daughter ‘splitting’ me further in front of the therapist (Ushnaa Ghatak). This goes to show how amateur and inefficient her methods are in conducting adult joint sessions! Carring Mind has removed my negative comments on therapist USHNAA GHATAK from their FB page AND ALSO THE REVIEW OPTION BUTTON, which shows that they follow UNETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES, only to highlight PATIENTS POSITIVE EXPERIENCE. People should check and report. Patients family and relatives are requested to monitor her therapy sessions closely and keep urself updated and point out any flaws to the management or in Google review or both. She is not fit for DBT therapy at all (which falls under clusterB). Beware of this therapist who takes things personally and tries to manipulate the patient / family by repeatedly asking them to attend her therapy sessions, even when they happen to be NTs (neurotypicals like myself) without any mental issues.
Ushna Ghatak madam is a very good phycologist. I was in trauma and sooo depressed in my life because of some critical problems. Now I am under councelling of Ushna Ghatak. After taking her therapy I am feeling soooo better to solve those problems of my life. I am feeling that I am developing very fast by doing madam's therapy. Once again I am telling that Ushna Ghatak's therapy and councelling made me far far better than before of my life. Thank you so much Ushna didi Alakananda Palit
